The reflected light is composed by two parts:

diffuse reflected light is the major part. The percentage of diffuse reflected light depends on the used material and the surface structure

specular or direct reflected light can be described as the way light is reflected back from a mirror or smooth metallic surface.

Structures on the surface convert parts of the direct reflected light to diffuse reflected light. The color appears lighter and more bluish compared to a high gloss surface.
