"REACH is just around the corner, coming into effect on June 1, 2007. This will not take us by surprise. Quite to the contrary:"
"We at Bayer MaterialScience have been getting ready for REACH ever since the new EU chemicals regulation first came up.
I can assure you, our customers: We are “fit” for REACH. We have a strong team in place to make sure that our business goes on as usual, so you can count on the service and expertise that you know from us.
Let us team up, as business partners, to deal with the complexities ahead as effectively and quickly as possible. With your support in the registration process we will REACH our main objective, a smooth implementation, successfully – together."
The new EU Chemicals Regulation REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) will come into force on June 1, 2007. After this date, an estimated number of 30,000 chemicals handled in the EU will require registration.
In this regard, we at Bayer MaterialScience will regularly inform our customers on our implementation of the REACH Regulation.
We have set up a project, entitled “FIT for REACH”, to identify and evaluate the impact of REACH on our products. It is our main objective to make sure that all our currently supported services and applications will also be readily available in the future. The reliable supply of our customers with our products is, of course, our top priority.
The “FIT for REACH” project is based on close collaboration of our HSEQ department (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) with experts from Procurement and from each of our businesses, i.e. Polyurethanes (PUR), Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants (CAS), Polycarbonates (PCS), Thermoplastic Urethanes (TPU) and Inorganic Basic Chemicals (IBC). It coordinates all internal activities needed for full and efficient compliance with the new requirements as well as the external communication.
