Color Competence Center - History
The Color Competence Centre was created in Filago in 2002: the concept was to combine all the color-related development activities of Bayer MaterialScience in a single Center. The purpose of the project was to serve major areas of the global market : Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
In its first two years, the work of the laboratory focussed mainly on developing colors for ABS and Blends (Polycarbonate/ABS) and on producing standard color samples. In the first 24 months it developed about 500 colors and produced over 1000 samples: the results were excellent from the start.
However, in the last five years, the greater attention to new colors and effects characterising the market was an incentive to strengthen the facility, with the addition, in 2006 of new laboratory extruders and equipments.
Color Compentence Center - Today
The Center is now able to provide color matches and colored granule samples in small quantities for all PCS products. Bayer MaterialScience has installed special state-of-the-art laboratory extruders for this purpose.
In Filago, the customers find color specialists, qualified and highly skilled, able to give the required support in all matters involving: creation of new colors and effects, where the FANTASIA® program acts as consulting tool for BMS customers, and active development of new coloring technologies.
Color Competence Center facilities consist of equipments really in the vanguard, new extruders, a color measurement room with spectrophotometers, light booth, more than 1.000 color chips for visual matching and color comparison, a wide range of catalogues about color scales and a meeting room suited also for training, technical discussions and customers visits.
